“Lamp” is too general a concept as a product because it is constantly evolving in form, structure and function. The application of the lamp is in an extremely wide range, which can hardly be limited to just one sphere. A product that covers all kinds of individual preferences and needs – in everyday life, at work, in the urban environment, etc. Lamp body hulls often allow all sorts of experimentation with shaping structures, assemblies and combinations of engineering solutions. In this development the idea of a modular principle of two types of body hulls is laid down. They form a specific lighting structure, using more than one element, of the corresponding type of body hull.

Development

Individual production of two types of body hulls, based on 3D concepts. The main goal was to make test models, which after finalization, to be used for presentation prototypes. The specificity of the shape, in both cases, required a different approach. The mold in both cases had to be built of several technological parts – modular type with fasteners. A difference between the two main designs varies in the wider middle area – from a pronounced “concave” to a “convex” shape. This required an individual technological approach, which did not allow the use of only one mold. The main models in both cases were shaped from industrial designer clay. Composite materials were used for the molds and the final products – fiberglass and polyester resin. Polyester putty and spray putty were used to refine the shape in the final products before painting them. As a continuation of the project for the two bespoke lamps, development of a third design was launched. Based on a hemispherical shape, in a purpose-built mold composed of two identical hemispherical sockets. The goal was to refine the hemispheres after fabrication as the basis for a modular design built from several elements, reproducing the final structure of the final design.
