Helmets – Hulls

Year: 2011 – 2012

Project

The helmet must cover important mechanical characteristics affecting the stability and strength of its main structure. This is a product that cannot be put on the human head without first going through intense loads and tests. Above all, the helmet must completely protect the head, regardless of the driven motor vehicle – motorcycle, tricycle or four-wheeled motor vehicle, racing car. The stylistic accents in the helmets have a certain range, due to the basic shape, which in its inner zone must correspond to the corresponding head size. This is done with the help of different sizes of protectors that correspond to the ergonomic characteristics of the respective head.

Development

Two types of helmet hulls were developed in this project. The aim of the development was to build two different designs. Prototypes were developed, which served for inspection and basic analysis of the two hulls, before planning the production of test prototypes. No finishing procedures were performed to finalize the prototypes – painting and equipping with accessories (protector, mica, mechanisms, etc.). Helmets have different styling characteristics. Industrial designer clay was used to make the models of the main prototypes of the hulls. For the production of the matrices and the final products were used – fiberglass roving, fiberglass, polyester resin and polyester putty.
